Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, one of the first overseas economic and trade cooperation zones approved by Ministry of Commence of the People’s Republic of China, is co-developed by Taihu Cambodia International Economic Cooperation Zone Investment Co. Ltd, Jiangsu in reply to the call of China’s “going global” strategy with Cambodia International Investment Group Co. Ltd. SSEZ has a total planned area of 11.13 km2 and a total investment of 320 million USD$ with textile & clothing, machinery & electronics and high-tech products as the leading industries. This project receives high attention from top leaders including prime ministers of both countries.
The economic zone is located in the sole international port city in Cambodia - Sihanoukville, with a planned development area of 5.28 km2 in the preliminary stage. It is 3 km from Sihanoukville Airport and 12km from Sihanoukville deep water port, close to No. 4 national highway and only 210km away from the Phnompenh - the capital city of Cambodia. It has easy access to fresh water resource and good location and convenient transportation.
Preferential tax policy in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone
1. Production equipment, construction materials and parts for plant building and raw materials for production purchased by enterprises are exempted from import tariff;
2. After investment, enterprises are entitled to a tax-free period of 6-9 years from Cambodia side depending on the categories of products;
3. Profits putting on re-investment are exempted from duties and taxes;
4. No tax is levied on dividends;
5. Exported products are exempted from export tax.
6. No foreign exchange restrictions and foreign exchange capital can flow in and out freely.
Relevant expenses set-up for Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone
1.Electricity: 0.15 US$/kWh
2. Plant building renting fees:
Two options:
Option 1: 0.8 US$/m2/ month
Option 2: 2.5 US$/m2/ month,the plant can be used for free for 30 years after successive payment for 8 years
For both the above options, the plant is used free of charge for the first year.
